       What is a Certified Business Intermediary?


What is a CBI?

Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) is the designation awarded by the International Business Brokers Association to those that have satisfied the experience and educational requirements for the CBI certification, successfully completed a comprehensive examination process and conform to the ethical standards of the IBBA.  (Less than 4% of all business brokers in the country have earned the CBI designation.)


What special qualifications does a CBI bring to a transaction?

A higher level of education and training as demonstrated by completing a minimum of 68 credit hours of business brokerage certification courses offered exclusively through the International Business Brokers Association, successfull completion of a comprehensive examination, attendance at IBBA conferences, continuing education and periodic re-certification.

A CBI must have a combined minimum of three years experience and education in business brokerage.

A CBI is a professional equipped with special expertise as a result of advanced study in valuation practices, sales and marketing, small business investment analysis, due diligence, finance and closing procedures.
